Award ceremonies such as the Golden Globes, Emmys, Academy Awards, and the Grammy are annual events that fans and celebrities alike look forward to. For the stars, whether it be for the love of their art or recognition, these award ceremonies are the culmination of their entertainment industry’s investments. As for the fans, what’s not to love? It’s a day when all our favorite celebrities gather together, all dressed up in glamorous ensembles and decked with full Hollywood glory. However, sometimes these events can get riddled with mishaps, and celebrities subject themselves to awkward and embarrassing moments that both they and fans will never forget. Here are some unforgettable red carpet blunders that will forever be iconic.

The Academy Awards did an oopsie!

One of the most prestigious days for Hollywood movie stars, directors, and producers is the Academy Awards. It is, after all, the day that the best talents in Hollywood cinema are given credit. However, the award ceremony experienced its biggest mishap in 2017. The whole incident left the cast of the film La La Land and the presenters, actors Warren Beaty and Faye Dunaway, embarrassed out of their wits.

The award for Best Picture was presented to La La Land. While the cast was mid-way through their celebrations on-stage, it was announced that the presenters were given the wrong envelope and that the winner should have been the movie Moonlight. Yikes!

Fraser at the Golden Globes

Brendan Fraser, at one point, was one of the most famous names in Hollywood. He is known for movies such as The Mummy, Inkheart, and George of the Jungle. However, in the 2010 Golden Globe Awards, he was recognized for a different reason. He must’ve had a bit too much to drink because he was unusually eccentric, and the camera crew made sure not to miss the moment.

So what happened? Well, as the camera panned towards his direction, he wore a big smile, and his joy for the winners was very much apparent. However, his ability to clap was not. He was ecstatic, and instead of clapping, he was shaking his hands while simultaneously throwing peace signs. That might be the most conventional way to celebrate, but we do have to give him credit for trying.

Kanye and Swift at the MTV Awards

This next award show blunder might just be one of the most well-known on-stage mishaps in modern-day music. Kanye is the self-proclaimed genius of the rap industry. As we know, genius minds tend to think on a different wavelength. Such was the case during the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards. A young Taylor Swift has just won a major award at the VMAs.

While she was getting to say her acceptance speech, a slightly tipsy Kanye West barged into the stage, grab the mic from Taylor, and gave his two cents. The rapper protested that his friend, Beyonce, should have won the award. Little did they know that that particular moment would later spiral into a decade-long feud between the rapper and the Look What You Made Me Do singer. The rivalry got so bad at one point that lawyers almost had to get involved.

Jennifer Lawrence trips

There was a time when Jennifer Lawrence was one of the most famous people in Hollywood. Her performances in The Hunger Games and The Silver Linings Playbook gave her an exceptional degree of success that made her an international sensation. She even took home an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2013.

However, her trip to the stage for her acceptance speech may have been memorable for a different reason. Going up the stage with her big gorgeous white dress proved to be more than a challenge for the actress. She tripped, but to her credit, she laughed it off and graciously accepted her well-deserved reward. She’s still a winner, though.

The fall of Rami Malek

Rami Malek is one of the great talents of Hollywood. He gained recognition for his performance in the series Mr. Robot. Eventually, He attained one of the most coveted accolades in the industry – an Academy Award.

In 2019, he was awarded Best Actor for his performance in the film Bohemian Rhapsody, which saw him climb to the top of his profession. Unfortunately, just as he was making his way back to his seat from the stage, he stumbled down the stage.
