Becoming a parent is a dream for many people, but it is not always easy to achieve. This is particularly true for members of the LGBTQ community, whether they are regular people or celebrities. However, despite the challenges involved, there are still many who have achieved their goal of becoming moms and dads! As they say, when it comes to going after what one truly wants in life, nothing is impossible. These proud parents are a testament to that fact.

Will the parenting be any different? Truth be told, isn’t it that every family have their own way of raising children? For LGBTQ moms and dads who work in Hollywood, the same can be said. Aside from investment planning for the future of their children, they are also concerned with the same parenting matters as other people. There will always be plenty to learn from them as well, so if you’re curious then make sure you read on. On this list, we will take a closer look at the lives of Hollywood’s LGBTQ parents.

Amber Rose

We were first introduced to model and actress Amber Rose in Kanye West and Young Jeezy’s music video for Put On. Not only did she catch West’s eye, but Rose also achieved fame following the video’s release. Her modeling career took off and she even landed a Louis Vuitton advertisement to promote West’s sneaker collaboration with the luxury fashion house.

Aside from her popularity as a model, Rose is also well-known for being outspoken about her sexuality and LGBTQ rights. She identifies as bisexual and has one son with her former husband, the rapper Wiz Khalifa. Sebastian is now nearly 10 years old. His parents obviously deserve credit for raising him right. In particular, she and Khalifa make sure that he grows up into a good individual and that he never feels as if he needs to conform to societal norms.

Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper has achieved many great things when it comes to his career. He has been at the helm of the CNN news program Anderson Cooper 360 since 2003. Cooper is also considered by many to be one of the most trustworthy journalists today. Over the course of his career, he has also received many accolades, including two Peabody Awards and a total of 18 Emmys. The journalist is also a staunch supporter of LGBTQ rights, having come out as gay back in 2012. He is without a doubt the most prominent gay journalist on current American television.

His greatest achievement, however, is becoming a father. His son, Wyatt Morgan, was born through surrogate on April 27, 2020. At that the time, Cooper had already parted ways with his long-time partner, but they do plan to co-parent and make the necessary investments for their son’s future.

Andy Cohen

Growing up and understanding his sexuality early on, TV personality Andy Cohen never thought that having his own family was even possible. So, instead, he focused his energy on building a career for himself. Cohen earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism before joining CBS, where he produced newscasts for over a decade. In 2005, he was given a chance to join BRAVO, which helped him establish his name in the field. Since then, he has become a familiar face and a household name for fans of the network.

With all that success, anyone would have been elated, but Cohen must have been looking for something more. There are things that work cannot fulfill, no matter how successful one gets. Luckily for him, that wish was answered in the form of his son Benjamin Allen. Born through a surrogate on February 24, 2019, his birth must have been the real highlight of the famed host’s life.

Angelina Jolie

She may have started out as one of Hollywood’s most infamous wild children, but actress Angelina Jolie has certainly made quite a transformation. While she remains as outspoken, as open, and as supportive of her advocacies, there is a softness to her that many would attribute to her becoming a mother. Jolie has never hidden her bisexuality and once spoke about the relationship she had with Jenny Shimizu, who was her co-star in Firefox. Since then, outside of her high-profile relationships, she has mostly kept her personal life private.

These days, she’s more concerned about her six children. Her eldest is Maddox Chivan, who has since made the move to Seoul for his studies. Left behind are his younger siblings Pax Thien, Zahara Marley, Shiloh Nouvel, Knox Leon, and Vivienne Marcheline. Aside from receiving a great amount of love and support from their mother, these kids wouldn’t have to worry about student loans in the future as well.

Anna Paquin

It seems as if actress Anna Paquin literally grew up in front of our eyes. She made her debut in The Piano and, at the age of 11, won her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. While most talents have trouble transitioning from being a child star to a full-fledged adult actor, Paquin was able to do so quite successfully. Along the way, she was collecting countless accolades and notable roles from some of the biggest productions in the industry. This includes her appearance in Fly Away Home, Almost Famous, Jane Eyre, and the X-Men Franchise.

Aside from being a prolific actress, she also gets credit for being an advocate for LGBTQ issues and openly announced that she was bisexual. At present, she has two children with her partner Stephen Moyer. The two were co-stars in the series True Blood and wed in 2010.

Billie Joe Armstrong

Even from the early beginnings of his career as front man for the band Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong had always defied convention when it comes to what’s feminine and what’s masculine. His bisexuality isn’t a secret either, and the musician never hesitates to discuss the topic when asked. In fact, he believes that people end up leaning toward one sexuality due to preference as well as societal pressures. He goes on to say that he finds it to be a “very beautiful thing” as opposed to the taboo it is sometimes treated as.

These are wise words coming from a father of two who strives to raise his children in a manner that gives them the freedom to be themselves. We’re sure that this is something Joseph Marciano and Jakob Danger certainly appreciate about their dad. There is no better investment than imparting life lessons to one’s children, right?

Braunwyn Windham-Burke

Some people come to terms with their sexuality early on, while others may take a bit of time when it comes to figuring it out. This is the thing that makes Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Sean Burke’s relationship quite beautiful. The pair had been married for over two decades when Windham-Burke admitted that she had never been attracted to men and identified as a lesbian. Of course, it wasn’t easy news to hear for her husband, but the most surprising thing is the degree of support he showed her after.

It might have taken her 42 years, but Windham-Burke she is more comfortable in her own skin now. The couple, who are now in an open marriage, share seven children together. There isn’t much information about how their kids reacted, but the pair assures fans that while it isn’t a smooth road, they are taking things day by day.

Cynthia Nixon & Christine Marinoni

We know actress Cynthia Nixon best for her role as the street smart and witty lawyer Miranda Hobbes on a popular HBO program. Thanks to her performance, she gained further prominence and eventually became a household name along with the rest of the cast. Over the years, she has had a few high-profile relationships with men, but it is with Christine Marinoni that she found stability. The two were wed back in 2012 but have been together since 2004. Nixon has two children from her first marriage, Samuel Joseph and Charles Ezekiel. She welcomed a son, Max Ellington, with Marinoni back in 2011.

So, how does she handle being a mother to three while also balancing a successful career? For Nixon and Marinoni, it’s all about investment planning and team work. They are also raising their kids to be individuals, so when Samuel Joseph came out as transgender not too long ago, they were incredibly supportive of his journey.

David Bowie

In 1976, Bowie certainly expressed to Cameron Crowe for Playboy that he is bisexual. “But I can’t deny that I’ve used that fact very well,” the singer claimed. This was four years after he said to Melody Maker that he’s “gay, and always has been, even when I was David Jones.” The androgynous rock star of the 1960s and beyond reinvented popular music with singles such as Space Oddity and Starman. Additionally, his first two albums to go platinum were 1971’s Hunky Dory and 1972’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Let me remind you that Bowie was and remains a queer icon. His legacy will live on past his 2016 death, both in his music and in his kids, Duncan Jones (formerly Zowie) and Alexandria “Lexi” Jones. His credit score might just be unimaginable. But did you know that the icon would get into fist fights while attending Stockwell Infants School? More than that, he founded his first band The Konrads when he was just fifteen.

Drew Barrymore

Barrymore’s response to Contact Magazine way back in 2003 was, “Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do. Totally,” the star stressed with conviction. She explained that she has always considered herself bisexual and she loves a woman’s body. “I think a woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful.”

Given that frankness, she is admirable for raising her daughters, Frankie and Olive, with a no-holds-barred approach to everything from reproductive health to aging. “I’m now determined more than ever to show my daughters that aging is a luxury,” Barrymore told NewBeauty. “If we’re lucky, we are all going to age. I just want them to be at peace with who they are and not what they look like. If they are good, cool people; that’s all I care about,” she added. I don’t know about you but the heat is on from this savage queen. Better get away from the nearest gas source as possible, folks!

Elton John & David Furnish

Here’s a fun fact: Elton began playing the piano at age three and won a junior scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. The rock and roll legend has sold over 250 million albums in a career that’s spanned over 50 years. Elton is marked for his hit songs such as Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Bennie and the Jets, and Candle in the Wind.

Elton later married David Furnish on December 21, 2014. Together, they have two sons named Zachary and Elijah. “I love every minute of fatherhood,” John told OK Magazine. “Staying up all night, changing nappies, kids crying, I find it really funny and inspiring. It connects you to the world in a new way.” The couple welcomed their sons both via the same surrogate; Zachary in 2010, and Elijah in 2013. For sure, the kids won’t have any trouble regarding their home finance anytime in the future.

Evan Rachel Wood

Wood has starred in the film The Wrestler and performed a role in The Beatles-inspired movie Across the Universe. Her acting in Thirteen bolstered her fame. Eventually, the actress got the main role in the HBO science fiction series Westworld. Furthermore, Wood was also noted for playing a credit role in the TV show American Gothic. Did you know that Wood began her acting career in her father’s production of Theater in the Park?

When Wood was probed on whether she’d talked to her 6-year-old son, Jack Matfin Bell, about her bisexuality, she responded “Oh yeah.” It seems that the actress also rocks Motherhood 101 because when she asked Jack what he’d think if she started dating a woman again, his response was utterly enthusiastic. “He was like, ‘I think that would be amazing. That would be so cool!’” she revealed to the publication.

Fergie

Baptized as Stacy Ann Ferguson, Fergie is known for being the lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas, the group that released the hit single Where is the Love? The singer, in due course, released her solo debut album The Dutchess in 2006, played the voice of Sally in two Peanuts cartoons, and was a spelling bee champion and a Girl Scout. Later on, Fergie married Josh Duhamel on January 10, 2009. They have a son named Axl who was born in August 2013.

The Don’t Phunk with My Heart singer told The Advocate that her bisexuality is so much more than “trendy,” which is unfortunately how many fans and critics alike have viewed it. “The funny thing is that I was very open and honest about that from the very beginning, and everyone was acting like it was some new trend. Go back four or five years, people, and you’ll see the same answer,” she stressed. Someone please call the roof repair cos Fergie has just dropped the mic! Feisty and fervent, this woman is, to her credit, no regular mom.

Gillian Anderson

Anderson is a Golden Globe-winning actress who starred alongside David Duchovny, portraying FBI agent Dana Scully on the television series The X-Files. Anderson launched her career by joining an amateur actor group while in high school. Next, she starred in the 2000 film The House of Mirth and also appeared in the movies The Mighty Celt, Sister, and Mr. Morgan’s Last Love.

“I could be with a woman next year!” she expressed to The Times Magazine. “Part of me looks long-term. As long as there’s always a back door,” she added. Fortunately,  neither did her partner Peter Morgan, or her kids, Piper, Oscar, and Felix, raise an issue about her sexuality. “It’s just who I am. I have absolutely no issue with it whatsoever, and I don’t really care if other people have an issue with it,” the actress declared. Lawyers, get a grip. This woman may be a real-life special agent, after all.

Jillian Michaels

Jillian Michaels is a celebrity fitness trainer whose appearance in The Biggest Loser led to her fame. She later starred in The Doctors and the reality show Just Jillian. Michaels also ventured into businesses to make good use of her investment money. Michaels came up with her own fitness app called Jillian Michaels: The Fitness App as well as a fitness video website, Fitfusion.com, that features collections of workout routines from several top fitness trainers. As Michaels’s career sailed steady, her relationship and family life met a bumpy road in 2018.

Jillian Michaels announced her separation from longtime partner Heidi Rhoades in 2018 after being together since 2009. The couple has two kids, Lukensia and Phoenix. The couple adopted Lukensia in 2012 in Haiti when she was just two years old, and subsequently, Rhoades gave birth to Phoenix in May 2012. As the rulings of the court favored Rhoades to have more time with the kids, Michaels was ordered to provide spousal support for Rhoades and the kids. Despite their separation and different family setup, Michaels makes sure that her children know that they are loved.

Karamo Brown & Ian Jordan

Karamo Brown has been out and about regarding his personal preferences since he was 16. The Queer Eye host is also a proponent of LGBTQ+ rights and has worked in social services focusing on kids struggling with gender issues. Brown found out about his biological son, Jason, when he received a letter from the court in 2007 ordering him to pay for child support. Brown worked with his lawyer to have Jason in his full custody along with his half-brother, Chris.

Since then, Brown has been a dedicated parent to his sons, and he got his long-time partner involved in parenting. As such, Brown admits that he was hurt when his 23-years-old son, Jason, took time before admitting his preference. Jason came out to his parents when he was 21 years old. Brown was upset about the fact that he runs a household that supports freedom of choice, yet his son felt uncomfortable coming out to him. In the end, Brown has nothing but love for his son.

Maria Bello & Dominique Crenn

Being a parent puts you in a situation where you have to consider every move you make as there is a little one looking up to you and following your lead. For the same reason, the actress Maria Bello took time before she opened herself up to her then 12-years -old son, Jackson Blue McDermott, who is now pursuing a college degree in New York.

Maria had Jackson from her relationship with Dan McDermott. Upon her separation from Dan, Maria started a relationship with a close friend, Clare Munn, who is also acting as a godmother to Jackson. Fearing that her preferences might have a negative impact on Jackson, she tried to hide it. Jackson was a bright kid and knew that his mom was up to something. As she explained her situation with Jackson, his response comforted Maria. He told his mom, “love is love, whatever you are.” Since then, Maria felt at ease knowing that her son embraces who she is, including her relationship with her now-fiancé, Dominique Crenn.

Matt Bomer & Simon Halls

The actor, Matt Bomer, has opened up about his personal life to the public since he made his acceptance speech in 2012, including about his family life with Simon Halls, his husband since 2011. Matt earned popularity through his TV series White Collar and later on the film Magic Mike. As he gained credits for his high-profile acting career, he felt obligated to let the world know about his family.

Matt and Halls have been married since 2011. They have three sons through surrogacy; Kit, born in 2005, and the twins, Walker and Henry, born in 2009. Matt says that being a father is hard and rewarding. Matt makes sure to have time for his family even if it entails saying no to projects, especially now that they are growing up. Since Matt created a strong bond with his children, he was moved when his eldest son, Kit, came out to him straight at 14. Though pun intended for his admission, Matt thought it was sweet and considerate for Kitt to pay him respect.

Mel B

The former Spice Girl Melanie Brown opened up about her life in her explosive memoir. Sharing the details of her life as a celebrity down to the nitty-gritty of her failed marriages, Mel B caused a major stir in the media, especially since she came out and shared her thrilling relationship with women.

Mel B has been through a lot in the past years, including a nasty separation from her ex-husband in 2017. Now that she’s become a single mom, she made sure to be up and ready for her children. She refused to let her interest in a dynamic relationship be an issue in raising her children. Mel B is a proud mom of three — of Phoenix, Angel, and Madison. As such, her eldest daughter, Phoenix, seems to be a fan of her mom’s style. Phoenix is making her mom proud for pursuing a degree in college despite the temptation of getting into the entertainment industry.

Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are among the most popular modern parents in the industry. The couple has been together for 17 years, and the two are also doting dads of two. Neil and David decided to build a family and have kids through surrogacy. Now they have Harper and Gideon, both born in 2010.

With Neil’s fame and busy schedule, David claims to be the mother-figure to their children, at least for the first year of their lives. Neil, on the other hand, also shares the same hardship and joys of being a parent. Especially since of the events of 2020 required them to assist their middle-schoolers with their online classes. Neil and David admit that keeping their marriage is also hard work, considering that they are not the only ones in the relationship. That is why they do couple’s therapy to help them with their differences.

Perez Hilton

Thank heavens for the technology that allows people who want to have children to do so. Apart from adoption, anyone can opt to have a biological child through surrogacy. As such, celebs are one of its proponents, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. Among the celebs who have surrogate kids is the celebrity columnist-blogger Perez Hilton.

Perez Hilton might be harsh and intimidating at times, but he has a soft spot, too, as evidence by his wanting to have his own family and kids. For that reason, Perez chose to have surrogacy three times despite the costs — after all, he’s rich enough to make do without a personal loan. As he is not in a domestic partnership, Perez got his mother’s help in taking care of his children. Since being a parent gives him fulfillment, Perez went hats-off and paid respect to surrogates all over the world — after all, they are the vessel through which others’ dreams come true.

Ricky Martin & Jwan Yosef

Another pair who did not miss the opportunity to build a family is Ricky Martin and his husband, Jwan Yosef. Ricky is a well-known Latino singer and was a member of the band Menudo. Although his coming out crushed many women’s hearts, it was a win for the LGBTQ+ community. His union with the equally successful artist, Jwan Yosef, is impressive, too.

Ricky and Jwan are fathers to twin boys and a girl. Like most modern parents, their children ask questions about their family setup, and Ricky finds it the perfect opportunity to let their kids understand their unique family. Likewise, he also lets his kids be seen in public. Unlike other parents, Ricky lets their children get exposed to their lifestyle so they can get to know who they are. This is Ricky’s way of making things normal, not only for his children but also for other families like them. For that, he can take credit for his parenting style.

Sia

Everything in Sia’s life seems to be moving fast. Her career started when she dashed the music scene. Her efforts instantly made her a big star with a big credit score. Apparently, her personal life is also being fast tracked. In a recent interview, Sia shared that she has a new role as a mother to two adult sons whom she adopted recently. Both aged 18, Sia decided to be a single mother and raise adult sons who were aging in the center. Apparently, after just a year, Sia is now a grandmother.

Squealing about the shocking event, Sia realized that she was still learning how to be a mother, and here comes her son having his own. As such, Sia also says that she will stop talking about her children from now on since they are both adults and that she must respect their privacy. Likewise, talking about her grandchildren will be off-limits as it is not her news to share, says Sia. Although Sia’s bold choices in life and her coming out as queer might have made some raised eyebrows, it was an evident show of care and love nonetheless.

Tess Holliday

Tess Holliday is an American plus-size model and a body-positive activist. Holliday is also a social media influencer and makeup blogger. Through her social presence, she was able to air her voice about several topics, such as body positivity and mental health awareness. Behind the glam makeup and fierce personality, Holliday is a single mother of two.

Tess is no stranger to dealing with several issues in her life. She might be successful as a plus-size model and have a pretty face, but she still receives a lot of criticism for her weight. Fighting back, Tess launched a campaign that aims to take down conventional standards of beauty. Tess received a lot of credit for it and she became a positive influence on young girls. Moreover, she has dealt with several issues, including those concerning her romantic preferences. Of course, none of these make her any less of a mother.

Wanda Sykes & Alex Niedbalski Sykes

When Wanda Sykes came out in public, it was for a purpose. She joined the rally to support same-sex marriage and also gave due credit to her identity. Wanda had been private about her romantic preferences since childhood, and it was only when she got older that she dared to come out. Likewise, she didn’t receive much support from her parents when she came out to them. In 2006, Wanda met Alex Niedbalski.

Wanda first saw Alex at a ferry ride to New York and was immediately attracted to her. Later, Alex was introduced to her by a friend since she was looking for materials for a kitchen renovation. Wanda then realized that Alex was the woman she had a little crush on. Since then, the two were inseperable — they eloped in 2008. Since the couple wanted to complete their family, they welcomed fraternal twins, Olivia and Lucas, in 2009.

50 Cent

50 cent is one of the rappers who supports marriage equality. It was not surprising as 50 grew up in a household where women had a certain degree of liberation. During an interview, 50 narrated about his relationship with his mother and how he found out about her personal preferences. At a young age, 50 was used to seeing his mother having close relationships with women not men.

Though he admitted that it brought some confusion since he did not understand what was going on until he got older. When 50’s mother passed away when he was eight, his grandmother explained to him his mother’s romantic attraction to women. For sharing this story, 50 gained respect and admiration from people in different walks of life, especially since he is known for his masculine persona in the music industry.

Ally Sheedy

Nowadays, more and more celebrities are expressing their support for gender equality. It’s not a surprise though, as many celebs themselves have been in the closet due to the stigma of being in the spectrum. Likewise, those who have had a close relationship with LGBTQ+ members have shown their support and love by advocating for gender equality. One example is the actress Ally Sheedy, an actress who was raised by a lesbian mother.

Ally Sheedy knew about her mother’s romantic preferences when she was young, especially after her parents went their separate ways. Because of this, when her daughter came out to her, she had nothing but love and support to offer her. Having first-hand experience motivated her to be an advocate of gender equality. Sheedy also credits the strength of her mother for inspiring her to be a proponent of gender equality. She now uses her influence to voice her activism.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams admitted to having a difficult childhood. People think that, as a celebrity, her life had been easy sailing, but she stressed that this wasn’t the case. The award-winning actress told her story for an interview — it began when her parents parted ways when she was just 11. Amy grew up in a religious family, and when her parents separated and her mother began a same-gender relationship, it came as a surprise.

Although she did not attribute much of her difficult childhood to her mother’s preferences, it sort of led her to leave their church and begin an independent life. When Amy’s parents went their separate ways, her father struggled financially, which led them their low credit and debt. She began supporting herself. Still, Amy does not blame her parents for anything. In fact, she invited her mother to come with her to a red carpet event.

Ana Matronic

Talk about having a nonconventional family, Ana Matronic of the band Scissor Sisters is a witness to such. At a very young age, she went through tough times dealing with her parent’s separation and her father’s gender orientation. Ana’s father fled home and began a relationship with a man when she was just three. Although she credits her mother’s honesty about their family situation, she covered the truth about her father for a long time, which was the cause of his demise.

Ana had a close relationship with her father despite that he lived a different life away from them. As such, Ana was devastated when her father died from AIDS when she was 15. However, due to rampant discrimination against people with the illness, Ana felt the need to keep her father’s story to herself. As times change, Ana found the courage to tell her story to honor her father, hoping it would be be an inspiration to others as well.

Jay-Z

Shawn Corey Carter, the real name of Jay-Z, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 4, 1969. His father left their family when he was 11, while his mother, Gloria Carter, came out as bisexual in 2017. Jay reportedly cried after realizing that his mom must’ve been in a rough situation for hiding her sexuality. In his album 4:44, the song Smile was dedicated to the matriarch, and it had lyrics suggesting he’ll be happy for her whoever she chooses to love, “Don’t matter to me if it’s him or her.”

He rose to prominence in the ‘90s and has charted numerous singles, including Empire State Of Mind, and as a featured artist in his now-wife Beyonce’s Crazy In Love. The power couple secretly tied the knot in 2008, and they are blessed with three adorable children, Blue Ivy, and twins Rumi and Sir. Jay-Z doesn’t have a finance degree, but his net worth is $1.3 billion.

Jena Malone

She is an actress and musician who became known for her acting credits in films such as Bastard Out Of Carolina, where she received award nominations, including a Screen Actor’s Guild award and an Independent Spirit Award. However, she grew up with her mother and her mother’s girlfriend, whom she calls God mom. Unfortunately, the couple broke up when she was ten years old.

Malone became interested in acting because her mom was a part of a community theater. With her eagerness and compassion, she convinced her mother to fly to Los Angeles so she could pursue a career in acting. It’s safe to say that moving to the City of Angels was a good move since she has was cast in numerous projects and was able to accumulate a net worth of $4 million.

Jodie Foster

On November 19, 1968, a child who was destined to win multiple Academy Awards was born. Her name is Alicia Christian Foster. Jodie doesn’t have a well-established relationship with her father since he and her mother were divorced before she was born. She might have lost a parent, but her mother’s partner, who she calls Aunt Jo, was around for her while she was growing up.

Foster is a gifted child. She learned how to read at the age of three, graduate valedictorian in high school, and finished her degree at Yale University as Magna Cum Laude. She received two Oscars for her performance in The Accused and Silence of The Lambs. In 2013, she received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes, and in her acceptance speech, she came out as a lesbian. She was in a 14-year relationship with producer Cydney Bernard and they have two children. In 2014, after a year of dating, Jodie married Alexandra Hedison.

Kendall Jenner

Being real to yourself is very difficult especially if you have a lot to protect. As a wealthy public figure who doesn’t have problems with mortgage and stuff, Kendall’s dad, Bruce Jenner, certainly experienced difficulties in staying true to himself. Imagine, he was living with cameras around him every single day. However, in 2015, Bruce turned into Caitlyn and floored all of his supporters, including his family, with his gender transition. So from now on, we’ll use a different pronoun — her.

Kendall, whom she shared with Kris Jenner, has eventually embraced the new look of her Dad and they snap photos together while hanging out. If you’re wondering what she has been doing lately, she’s totally fine. Well, she might be the first LGBTQ+ member to be the governor of California after she announced her candidacy in April 2021. I guess this might not be the last surprising revelation from Caitlyn.

Liza Minnelli

For the information of those from younger generations, Liza is an American singer and actress who became known in the 60s and the 70s. She was born Liza May Minnelli in Los Angeles, California. Her mother was the late Judy Garland while her father, who turned out to be homosexual, was Vincente Minnelli. The LGBTQ+ community faced more adversities at the time compared to today. Since Liza’s father was a film legend and homosexuality was not accepted at the time, he didn’t reveal his sexuality until later in life.

However, his sexuality didn’t become a hindrance to raising his child right. As a singer, Liza released numerous albums, including Liza! Liza! and Come Saturday Morning. As an actress, she has won numerous accolades such as an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy, multiple Tony Awards, and a Grammy Legend Award. It’s uncertain where she displays these golden trophies of hers, but she has an apartment in New York, which we hope has the best home security system.

Mandy Moore

Amanda Leigh Moore was born on April 10, 1984, in Nashua, New Hampshire. Her parents called their attorneys to separate after almost 30 years of being together. Since then, Mandy’s mom, Stacy Moore-Friedman, has started a new relationship with a female partner, tennis player Claudette Laliberte.

Mandy became widely famous as a singer and actress. In 1999, she signed a deal with Epic Records, and her debut single, Candy, catapulted her career to another level. She already released multiple albums that went on to chart inside the Billboard Top 200 chart since then and starred in several movies, including The Princess Diaries with Anne Hathaway and the heart-wrenching A Walk To Remember (opposite Shane West). As of 2021, Moore is still one of the lead ensembles of the hit family drama This Is Us, which started airing in 2016 and now has six successful seasons.

This can be proven when had finally Jessica tied the knot with her wife, Sara, back in 2019. “She’s loving it,” the artist exclusively shared with Closer Weekly, gushing over her 31-year-old daughter’s new life as a doting wife. “I just talked to her, she works full-time—she’s a counselor and she helps people get off drugs and do all those things and she’s loving that,” she stressed.

Marlon Wayans

Wayans is an impeccable star who enjoyed her breakthrough in the 90s when he and his siblings worked together in “The Wayans Bros.” Subsequently, he appeared in different TV shows and movies like “White Chicks,” “Little Man,” and “GI Joe.” As a father, he showed his support for his daughter Amai Zackary Wayans in 2019 with a touching Instagram post. “Happy pride to my pride and joy. I wouldn’t change one effing thing about you. Love you to the moon around the sun through the galaxies and back again,” he captioned.

In addition, the actor penned that he would not change “one effing thing” about his daughter, noting that he loved her deeply. However, several people took to the comment section to blame him for his allegedly bad parenting. But the “White Chicks” star made it clear that he would not tolerate disrespectful remarks about Amai. Woah. The bashers better tend their personal loans rather than spread negativity, am I right?

Mia Farrow

Mia Farrow’s son, Ronan Farrow, was vital in exposing sexual misconduct in Hollywood. He came out in 2018. And during accepting an award for LGBT Advocacy from the Point Foundation, he said, “Being a part of the LGBT community… which recognized the reporting I was doing early on and elevated it, and has been such a stalwart source of support through the sexual assault reporting I did involving survivors who felt equally invisible… that has been an incredible source of strength for me,” the journalist said.

Ronan expounded that the LGBTQ+ people are some of the bravest and most potent change agents and leaders he has encountered, and the most forceful defenders of the vulnerable and voiceless, because they know what it’s like to be there. To think Ronan actually graduated with a degree in philosophy, Mia must be a proud mom just to hear these prolific words from his son!

R. Kelly

As R.Kelly plunged into a series of controversies and legal battles in the past years, Kelly also has to deal with the issue of his son, Jay Kelly, stirred after coming out as a transgender man. Alleging that he is not showing support to his son, Kelly addressed the issue with no less than how a father should respond. In 2014, Jay Kelly or formerly known as Jaah Kelly, posted a video outing himself as a transman.

Jay, assigned a female at birth, identifies himself as a man who is attracted to girls. He elaborated that he has known about his identity since he was six. Jay later revealed that he is looking forward to getting treatment to be in the form he is supposed to be. Jay thanked his mother and sister for their support over his coming out. As R. Kelly’s name wasn’t mentioned in the video, it stirred rumors that Kelly does not support Jay. Kelly cleared the air by saying he saved up for his children to have a college degree and support them no matter what they are or who they become.

Sade Adu

Sade Adu is known as a very private person and rarely gives interviews or shows herself in events. In the same manner, expressing her love and support for her son needs no words from Sade since it is evident through her actions. Sade Adu is a British soul singer who became popular for her hits Smooth Operator, Sweetest Taboo, and Paradise. In 2016’s National Coming Out Day, Adu’s daughter, Mickailia Ila Adu, outed himself as a transgender man. He later adopted a new name, Izaak Theo Adu.

Although no words were heard from Sade, considering her private lifestyle, it was no doubt that she has been supportive of her son all along, emotionally and financially. In a recent post of Theo, he thanked his mother for staying with him for the whole six -months recovery. He also thanked her for being supportive and encouraging when he feels he can no longer go on. Seemingly, Sade must have used her investment money to help Theo with his transition.

Sally Field

If you ask us, the actress Sally Field must be given credits and awards for being such a supportive mother to her son, Sam Field, and his choices in life. Notably, the veteran actress campaigns for the civil rights bill that protects LGBTQ. Likewise, Sam is very much proud of having Sally as her mom for many reasons.

The award-winning actress is an endearing mother to her children despite her busy schedule and her magnificent career. Sam recalls how his mother tried to talk him out of his gender orientation. Although Sally is very supportive and created a safe space for him, it took him time to gather courage and talk about it. Not to mention, she found it hard to admit to himself and be okay with what he truly is. As for Sally, for parents not to accept their children for who they are is quite awful as there is nothing wrong with being true to themselves.

Sting

For some, coming out and elaborating on their gender preference or orientation is unnecessary as they don’t feel obligated to explain themselves. On the other hand, others feel like talking about it is unnecessary because everybody knows already. The same thing goes for Sting and Trudie Styler’s daughter, Eliot Sumner, who confessed to not having a serious talk with her parents over her identity.

Eliot Sumner is a 30-year-old musician and daughter of Sting and Trudie Styler. Ever since she made her relationship public, people started asking about the details of her coming out to her parents. According to Elliot, that she did not come out to her parents since they always knew. The same thing goes with her friends because they always knew. Additionally, Eliot says no one dares to ask her. As such, the musician is not concerned about what people will think about her, but she is more concerned about being under the shadow of his parents. Hoping to be known and gain credits as herself in the music industry, Eliot resumes her music career with another album.
